Authorities in Arizona have identified a new suspect in the shocking rest area assault that left a truck driver in a coma with life-altering injuries. The case, which has captured the attention of the trucking industry nationwide, continues to unfold as investigators work to bring those responsible to justice.

What Happened:

The violent attack occurred in February at the San Simon rest area off I-10 in Arizona. The victim, known only as “Jack,” was found with catastrophic brain injuries and all of his teeth knocked out. He has remained in a coma ever since.

Local law enforcement launched a detailed investigation, piecing together truck movements and surveillance footage from the rest area. After months of work, they narrowed their search to one truck and issued an arrest warrant for 41-year-old Azizbek Akhadov, a truck driver based in Pennsylvania.

Authorities believe the suspect has fled the country, possibly to Uzbekistan, and an international manhunt is underway with Interpol assistance.

Why This Matters

This disturbing case has struck a nerve with truckers across the country. Rest areas are meant to be safe havens for drivers who spend long hours on the road. But when violence erupts in those spaces, it shakes the entire industry.

For many truckers, rest areas are the only option for a break, sleep, or mechanical checks during long hauls. When incidents like this occur, they not only threaten individual lives — they erode the trust and security that every driver relies on to stay safe while doing their job.

A Call for Justice and Industry-Wide Vigilance

Law enforcement continues to pursue justice in this case, and Extra Transportation stands in solidarity with “Jack” and his family as they navigate an unimaginable road to recovery.

This case also serves as a wake-up call for the broader industry: awareness, accountability, and respect must remain central values in trucking culture — not just on the highway, but in every place truckers stop to rest.
