Tony Stewart, a truck driver from St. Louis, has become a beacon of hope since his community was devastated by an EF3 tornado on May 16. With his apartment deemed unsafe, Tony moved into his 18-wheeler parked across the street—and stayed to protect and feed his neighbors.
Staying Safe & Secure
- Tony has slept in his truck for over 30 days, stationed in the Ville neighborhood at Ashland & Newstead.
- His presence helps safeguard against looting and protects sentimental belongings left in damaged homes.
Community Feeding Effort
- With help from his friend Larry Gray, Tony began grilling and serving free meals daily, starting the day after the tornado.
- Their meal service has grown to feed 100+ people daily, fueled by community donations.
- They cook under a tent beside Tony’s rig, serving from noon to 10 p.m. each day.
Community Unity & Ongoing Support
- Tony’s mission: to offer shelter, sustenance, and watchful care until the neighborhood rebuilds.
- Donations of hot dogs, charcoal, or just a friendly visit—are helping this grassroots operation thrive.
