Nationwide diesel prices have jumped an average of $0.12 per gallon this month, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The average price now sits around $4.37 per gallon, with certain regions seeing even higher spikes.
Tips to Help You Save on Fuel This Month
1 – Use Preferred Fuel Networks
Stick to major truck stop chains like Loves, Pilot, and TA if you’re using a fleet fuel card. They offer discounted pricing and cashback perks.
2 – Plan Routes with Fuel in Mind
Apps like Trucker Path or Mudflap can help you find cheaper fuel options en route — sometimes saving $0.30–$0.50 per gallon.
3 – Idle Less, Save More
Avoid excessive idling during breaks. Idling can burn nearly a gallon of fuel per hour.
4 – Keep Tires Fully Inflated
Underinflated tires reduce fuel economy by up to 10%. Check pressures daily.
